Flavoured pipe tobacco for water pipe smoking - widely known as ‘Nargilla’ - has been very popular in Israel for years, among both teenagers and adults. Water pipes are used to smoke special fruit-flavoured tobacco, and are usually smoked in groups. Water pipes are commonly offered in many bars. Up until 2012, RYO tobacco had been a niche product, but it is now widely popular thanks to the rise of cigarette prices over 2012/2013.

Competitive Landscape

Devidas Group Ltd continued to lead the category in 2013 with a 53% retail volume share, up from 50% the previous year. Devidas’ dominance can be attributed to popular RYO tobacco brands such as Drum and Golden Virginia. Al Nakhla Tobacco Co led water pipe tobacco with a 30% retail volume share.
