Two multinational companies, Mars Norge and Nestlé Norge, led cat food in 2013, recording a combined value share of 43%. These two companies dominate mid-priced cat food with the brands Whiskas and Purina Friskies, and at the same time they are represented in premium cat food. Other leading companies in premium cat food are Royal Canin Norge, Premium Pet Products (NBO of Iams and Eukanuba) and Kruuse (NBO of Hill’s). The recent entrance of Canadian brand Orijen to the Norwegian market is likely to represent a long-term threat to the main sellers of premium dry cat food.
