Indonesia was ranked as the thirteenth most attractive destination in the Asia-Pacific to commence travel and tourism business operations in, according to the Travel and Tourism Competitive Index (TTCI) in 2011. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), travel and tourism in Indonesia contributed 3.2% to the national GDP while representing 2.7% of the total employment in the country in 2011. The total Indonesia tourist volume, which includes domestic, inbound and outbound tourists grew at a healthy rate during the review period (2007-2011).The Indonesian government has recognized the importance of tourism to the country's economic growth. As a result, the government plans to allocate US$140 billion for infrastructure development over the forecast period. With these government initiatives, the volume of inbound tourists in the country is expected to register a strong CAGR of 5.38% over the forecast period (2012-2016).
